Breakups are messy. Insults are thrown. Dreams are shattered.
Your life turns into a disaster for that moment in time.
Then one day, when the dust from your battle has finally settled, you look around and see...
a bunch of their forgotten crap.
OR, if you look thru my eyes: FREE STUFF!
Forgotten Object #1: T-shirts
T-shirts are my favorite bit of breakup SWAG, but not for the reason you might think. After a breakup, it's tempting to try and cling to those cozy feelings associated with the objects left behind, but sleeping in that T-shirt doused in his cologne is NOT the best way to get over him. You CAN however, take great pleasure in dousing it with bleach and using it to scrub your bathroom.
You may think I'm joking, but truly the best thing that I ever received from one of my past relationships is the world's greatest re-usable cleaning rag. I never enjoyed scrubbing the tub nearly as much as I do now, knowing it's the sociopath's shirt soaking up that soap scum. Try it. It's quite therapeutic...plus your bathroom will be spotless.
Forgotten Object #2: Jewelry
Whether it be something He gave you or something She left, SELL IT! What better way to move on than by using the cash earned to buy something for your new life?
Personally, I failed in this arena because the only jewelry of value a boyfriend ever gave me [a diamond studded bracelet...and I don't even like bracelets] fell off my wrist in a parking lot 3 years before the relationship ended. But ladies, if you're lucky enough to have any shiny baubles that you can't stand to look at now that he's gone, there's actually a website made just for your special needs: ExBoyfriendJewelry.com.
Or there's always eBay.
Forgotten Object #3: CD's & DVD's
Keep them. Consider it a free contribution to your own collection...unless they suck, then sell or recycle them.
Besides, money will come in handy when you need to replace all the stuff they kept of yours.
Question: What's the weirdest thing that was ever left with you after a breakup?
